Hi Charlotte – Tell us a bit about the business
Hi! I am Charlotte and I run colourful creative workshops in Cardiff City Centre! From Macramé to Dungarees. I started teaching creative workshops, in 2014, after seeing there were not many contemporary one off craft classes in Cardiff. Most were evening or reoccurring classes – but I am a busy lady and I wanted to get instant gratification and leave a session with a finished item, so along came twin_made . We started simple with Lampshade making and embroidery classes – hosting them in pubs and spaces around Cardiff and London.
Over the last few years we have found out passion and have created over twenty new classes including our ever popular Dungaree class, you read that right: dungarees! This is a four hour class where you come in and make a made to measure pair of dungarees! How awesome! And you get to take home the pattern and guide so you can make loads more pairs, in all the colours. We also have a range of beginner sewing classes, social craft clubs, macramé, embroidery and much more!
What do you like most about trading in/from Cardiff?
I love the community of Cardiff! Everyone knows everyone, it is such a vibrant, fun and affordable city!
We regularly get people travelling from around the country to attend our workshops as Cardiff is such a fun City to spend time in!
Have you got any advice for other indie businesses?
Don’t put it off! If you have an idea – give it a go!
Would you like to give a shout out to any local independents?
There is a group of rad ladies who help me ride the crazy rollercoaster of being self employed, they all run their own amazing and inspiring indie businesses.
My studio buddy @silly.panda making beautiful cloth sanitary pads, @rous.ink tattooing exciting designs. @baked.by.lou , @fizzgoespop and @nellystreasures are totally inspiring with their exciting work. @geetlush works with me to create our Fun Feminist Art and Craft Club.
And of course our home of @nosdacardiff! We love the staff and enjoying a delicious local beer with the best view of Cardiff.
